Parent’s Council Newsletter
St Joseph’s National School

December 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the parents council newsletter, where it is our aim on the council, to keep parents/guardians informed about fundraisers or anything that may arise that is relevant to you the parents.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has supported the voluntary contribution so far this year, as it is a major part of our fundraising for the school. There are many ways of paying this contribution and the parent’s council will be delighted to accept any contribution no matter how small.

Library books
If you have any unwanted books at home that you are looking to clear out, the school are looking for them. They are desperate to restock the library at the school, and are hoping that parents can help with this. Even 1 or 2 books can make the difference, so please if you have any books that are suitable for the school drop them in.

Clothes Collection
As you are aware the school run a used clothes collection several times throughout the year. The money raised from this is always put to good use. As the clothes collection day may not always suit parents, and if you have clothes that you want to donate, you can contact the school at any time through out the year and arrange to leave the clothes into the school at your convenience.

Parking
We ask parents to please always be vigilant when parking at the school. There is a yellow line on the road across from the school and we ask that parents do not park on the footpath or obstruct driveways. The yellow box at the school gate should not be used for parking. With the new build commencing this week, extra care will be needed when parking at the school and we would ask all parents to cooperate so that the minimum of disruption will be caused.

Calendar
As part of our fundraising this year we will be selling class calendars. Each class will have its own calendar, and they can be viewed at the photo shop (Mary Atkins) in the village. They are on sale now and after Christmas, and are available from any member of the council, from the school office or from the photo shop. The price will be €5 per calendar. We would really appreciate your support with these.

Finally I would like to wish all parents a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Maria Kirwan
Secretary
